This is the way I am going to use the Bookmarks.

I have mailed each child one Bible Bookmark with a letter explaining the plan.

They are to read one a week, either alone, or with a parent, and bring them back to me with the parent's signature saying they have read the Scripture. They will receive 7 points a week for a completed card or 1 point for each day on an uncompleted card..
At the end of each month, they will be allowed to do some Grace Shopping with their points. Either 7-14 points, 15-22 points, 23-28 points will allow them to shop from the corresponding Grace Shopping Box. They will have to have at least 7 points to shop. The more they read, the better they shop.

I have already begun shopping for items for the boxes.

Thanks and Blessings,
Virginia

We are starting our 20th year of the 2nd Timothy 2:15 Daily Bible Reading Program. Another lady began this program of encouragement for the children in our congregation, basing it on the Pizza Hut reading program from the 1980s.

Each child is given a month's worth of bookmarks, along with a 4x5 calendar for that month, and a letter of encouragement. A space is provided for them, and their parents to initial, each day they read. The first Sunday of the next month, they give the calendar to me and receive a certificate. If they have read 15 days or more, they also get a coupon for a free ice cream cone, or a pack of bubble gum.

In October we have a recognition program during our morning worship time and each child is given a book with a religious theme. The top 3 readers (and we have had several ties) are given a special book from the originator of the program, and her husband.
In the beginning, children in grade 2 through 5 were participants. Gradually it has been expanded to include Kindergarten through Sixth graders. The program runs from September 1st to August 31st.

thanks so much for everything you do to send the Truth out to churches, and in turn, families. We've been doing these bookmarks for almost a year, and through the habit of reading God's Word daily, so many lives have been changed.

In fact, a couple weeks ago, a boy was doing his bookmark with his parents, started asking questions about what he was reading, and accepted Christ as his Savior that night!

Our Junior Church uses the Bible Bookmarks each week ... they send them home with the kids and those who complete them and return them the following week earn a small "prize". My story is through the eyes of the mom! Our daughter who just turned 6 has been in church her whole life and has heard repeatedly all the stories as well as the way to be saved. Either my husband or I read along with her each day as she reads her bookmark, explaining what the verses mean to her. Today, while doing the bookmark work, she accepted Christ as her Savior!!!! She specifically mentioned after a few hours that she wanted to thank her Jr. Church teachers for giving her the bookmark because they helped her "get saved". I'd say the bookmarks have taken on a whole new meaning for her today! Thank you for something so simple but so profound!
